![]() To inevitable human experiences are dealt with in our Scriptures this morning. Choose to live in the hope of immortality. Think about ways that you could use your life today to enrich those around you. There is nothing more Godly then to voluntarily Empty ourselves so that others might have what they need. Each of us has been given Godly characteristics so that we can be partners in building up the kingdom of God. We are made in the image of God to act like God. When God shared with us his very nature, God intended to be used for the upholding of the kingdom of God. “For God formed man to be imperishable the image of his own nature he made him.” Wisdom 2 No excuses! What could be a higher priority than following God’s lead? First things first today. When he asks us to follow him, Jesus means NOW, not some time in the future when we get done what we want to do or when we feel like doing it. Has that love converted your life to Jesus? Is there still a part of you that you’re holding back? What will it take for you to take that next and deeper step of conversion? I am sure it has involved some sinfulness some brokenness some weakness and some experience of incredible love that God has given to you. Take some time today to celebrate the path that has led you to Jesus. Their path to coming to know Jesus was very different as well but in the end they both experienced their weakness their sinfulness their failures and the love of God which converted each of them to give their whole lives to Jesus. They each reached out to different groups of people. In reading the Scriptures it’s clear that they were very different people and Jesus called them each, in their own uniqueness, to be his instruments in the world. We celebrate to people of great courage and faith as we celebrate Peter and Paul. If you’re feeling less important because someone better came along, don’t let this incident speak to you about your whole life and your entire worth. If you’re experiencing blessing make sure you take time to acknowledge those who might have misfortune because of your blessing. Do you know the feeling of being good enough until something better comes along and then being tossed aside? Today might be a good day to try to see the whole picture. It’s no wonder Hagar and Ishmael were crying out to God. Imagine being Hagar and Ishmael and being thrown out of your home just because Abraham and Sarah were able to have their own child.Īnd were you ever on the bad end of somebody’s good fortune? I did someone else’s blessing ever cost you something on your end? It’s no wonder that the folks in the village with the drowned pigs asked Jesus to leave. It’s a great thing for the two people who had the evil spirits cast out of them but not so good for those whose pigs were drowned. Imagine being one of the swine herdsman and all of a sudden your pigs are all drowned in a lake. Imagine being on the outskirts of the situation not knowing the whole story. We encounter two very different tragic situations in the Scriptures today.
